about us
Why Moxies?
Girls are not alright—and today’s digital world is making things worse.
Social media is having a disproportionate and damaging impact on girls’ mental health. A 2023 CDC report found that 60% of teen girls experience persistent feelings of sadness or hopelessness, the highest rate in a decade. The Child Mind Institute and other leading researchers link excessive social media use to increased anxiety, depression, low self-worth, and body dissatisfaction in girls.

Most platforms weren't built for girls.
Much of this harm stems from platforms that weren’t built with girls in mind. Their algorithms prioritize engagement at any cost—amplifying content that preys on insecurity and keeping users hooked through endless scroll, like counts, and comparison-driven features. Within minutes of joining, girls are often served eating disorder content, self-harm videos, and unrealistic beauty standards. Even seemingly innocent trends—like viral skincare routines—can promote damaging messages about appearance and perfection.
And at the same time, we know their lives are more digital, and technology is only evolving and becoming more integrated into their daily lives. We need to create better tools and platforms to help them thrive, both online and off.

safe-by-design
That's why we built Moxies.
It’s a safe-by-design, research-backed platform created just for girls. We’ve replaced addictive features with intentional ones that build confidence, spark creativity, and support emotional well-being—while giving parents peace of mind through built-in safety, thoughtful moderation, and age-appropriate design.

our foundation
Where we focus
At Moxies, safety isn’t an afterthought—it’s the foundation. From day one, we’ve committed to building a platform that’s not only fun and engaging, but also developmentally aligned, emotionally supportive, and truly safe for girls.
Our safe-by-design approach is grounded in research-backed principles of positive youth development. We’ve collaborated with experts in UX/UI, youth tech, education, psychology, and clinical research to ensure every feature on Moxies supports healthier digital habits and emotional well-being.
These partnerships ensure Moxies stays aligned with the latest science on digital behavior, social-emotional development, and what kids actually need to thrive online.
Here’s how that framework comes to life in Moxies:
-
Healthy Design:
We promote balance with built-in time limits, gentle nudges, low-pressure notifications, and content designed to support—not hijack—attention.
-
Positive Connections:
Girls connect in small, private groups where friendship and self-expression are the focus—not likes, follows, or endless scroll.
-
Thoughtful Moderation:
We combine AI tools and human oversight to flag bullying, harmful language, and inappropriate behavior before it escalates.
-
Empowering Play:
Quests and challenges are grounded in digital literacy, confidence-building, and creativity—not vanity metrics or comparison traps.
By design, Moxies helps girls build the skills, confidence, and emotional awareness they need to navigate their digital lives—on their terms and with your peace of mind.

Founder + CEO
Juliette is a second-time founder who has spent the past 20 years building media brands and platforms for girls. She launched Miss O and Friends as a hobby in high school, later receiving investment from Procter & Gamble and growing it into one of the top girl-focused websites globally—ranking #3 behind Teen Vogue and Seventeen.
Her award-winning brand expanded into original content with Hyperlinked, the first girls’ series funded by YouTube Originals and hosted on Disney. Throughout her work, Juliette has seen firsthand the powerful, positive impact digital content can have when it’s designed around girls’ interests, well-being, and self-expression—particularly in leadership, STEAM, and computer science.
Now, as a millennial mom, she is dedicated to using emerging technology to build a better future for our kids—creating safe, creative, and emotionally supportive platforms like Moxies that help girls thrive both online and off.
